African Culinary & Drink Making Workshop

Learn to prepare and cook some of the most quintessential and arguably the most delicious African dishes. In addition to learning the culinary culture of Africa, you will learn how to pound yam using traditional tools, and how to prepare egusi stew using traditional methods as well. Food preparation across Africa has always come with story-telling and dancing. The art of pounding yam itself is arguably a dance. Ginger-based drinks are believed to have health and performance benefits across Africa. You will also get to learn how to prepare your own pineapple ginger drink. Elements of African drumming and dancing will be included in this workshop to re-create a holistic, dynamic and authentic experience. The workshop will end with a full African buffet lunch which will consist of a total of 8 dishes. Join us for this workshop!

Rundown

  • Ice-breaker – African Drum and Dance workshop
  • Pounded Yam (Peeling, boiling and pounding yam)
  • Egusi Preparation (Making egusi stew from scratch i.e. from melon/pumpkin seeds
  • Cooking egusi stew i.e. add meats and vegetables (meat and vegetarian/vegan options available)
  • Preparing a fresh and health African pineapple ginger drink
  • Lunch buffet (Total of 8 dishes, vegan friendly)
