Somalia Somaliland Relations
December 20, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm UTC+8
Free
Somaliland – a self-declared independent state, but for most part ignored by the world and denied a sovereign recognition. Somaliland broke away from Somalia in 1991 to keep itself away from getting sucked into the drama down South, following a deadly military operation by the toppled Barre regime that slaughtered thousands of Northern Somalis, which was seen as the last straw. Many in Somalia, however, see Somaliland as a single-clan territory that is jeopardizing the Unionist dream of 1960. Join us as we explore the hopes and pitfalls of both current and historical relations between Somalia and Somaliland
