The Book Series: Queer Narratives of Africa
August 25 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm UTC+8Free
In recent years with the resurgence of the LGBTQIA+ movement Africa as a whole has been painted as resistance and even aggressive towards these movements. We seek to highlight narratives of authors on the continent who have actively been working for the rights of the queer community at large.
Moreover, this is event seeks to show that, although there is a strong movement against the LGBTQAI+ community, queerness has always, and continues to exist in all African communities. In addition to this, we seek to show that there are many Africans who have always fully embraced queerness and continue to do so even in the face of resistance.
This event will be done in collaboration with Brian Lau, an activist for the queer community here in Hong Kong.
