Current Affairs | Crisis in South Africa & eSwatini

July 18 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm UTC+8

The disturbing images of unrest and looting in the region have left many seeking for context and some wondering if this is finally the first step in addressing the inequalities rooted in the apartheid system for South Africa and in the monarchy’s historically exploitative practices for eSwathini. Many young South Africans such as Julius Malema have criticised Mandela for not doing enough in addressing socio-economic inequalities especially on the issue of land redistribution post apartheid. Are we finally at crossroads? Is there a silver lining underneath these unrests in the two Southern African countries. What will be the regional impact for other countries whose economies relies heavily on trade with South Africa such as Namibia, Zimbabwe & Lesotho.

Join us for this current affairs discussion to unpack these crises and develop your own view.
