Sarafina (Leleti Khumalo) is a young black South African woman struggling for freedom during the racist apartheid regime. A musical about a young Soweto girl (Leleti Khumalo) who experiences a political awakening, as she comes of age due to the lessons of her teacher (Whoopi Goldberg), who tends not to follow the white power-structure’s curriculum.
Join us to watch this film as we celebrate black women’s contributions to the world. The screening will be followed by a discussion.
