What is health-technology and how can it help us solve public health crises and inequality? Dr Juliana Busasi will share her inspiring journey as a female social entrepreneur in the health-tech landscape, attempting to defy the problem of unaccesible healthcare in Africa. “Good Health and Well-being” shouldn’t merely be a Sustainable Development Goal but a right and not a privilege. What challenges she has faced while attempting to fight for this right on behalf of the marginalised and underserved Tanzanian population.
Additionally, hear how Dr Busasi lives out her life motto of living “for a purpose that is greater than ourselves”. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to catch her in Hong Kong!
Dr Juliana Busasi is a Tanzanian medical doctor and public health activist. While still in medical school in 2015, she founded Tanzania Health and Medical Education Foundation (TAHMEF), an organisation that serves marginalized communities through health-technology. 9 years later, TAHMEF has grown to serve more than 12,000 Tanzanians and aims to provide digital healthcare access to all Tanzanians by 2030.
Dr Busasi has since been recognised for her efforts in improving the accessibility and quality of health services and has been awarded a plethora of scholarships and fellowships. This time, she is in Hong Kong as a 2024 PBC Fellow, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust’s programme gathering “young social innovators and impact champions” from all around the world.
