About the Walk
In this unique tour you’ll delve into the historical significance of African-owned and led businesses in Hong Kong Mirador and Chungking Mansions. You’ll chat with African entrepreneurs who own and operate these businesses to discover the stories behind these vibrant hubs, learning about their migration journeys, and gaining an understanding of the challenges they face. Foodies will also get to indulge in diverse culinary offerings, visiting food businesses and enjoying drinks and snacks while learning about the food culture, culinary traditions, and the ways in which these businesses maintain authenticity even as they adapt their dishes in a new city. The tour will conclude at the Africa Center, where you’ll savour a delicious African dinner (optional, on an extra $300 paid during the walk), and connect and network with fellow participants as well as other Africans in Hong Kong, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of African music.
It is a fun and family-friendly space to find heartwarming African food and direct connection to the local African community. The center is for everyone, where they can freely express themselves and their ideas.

The Africa Center is a turning point for the African communities within Hong Kong, and for those who wish to learn and integrate with the community not just within the city, but through out the African diaspora.

I value the “African Literature Book Club” as I value Women’s Day and Black History Month because African literature deserves a spotlight.
