In this workshop, the participants will explore the history of a traditional art form that thrived in the African American community; quilting. It highlights the cultural significance of quilting in African culture, particularly how it helped black women to gain a sense of accomplishment & identity in 19th century America. The participants will get a glimpse of such quilting techniques & will design their own piece during the workshop.

What a lovely way to spend this late afternoon!

Thank you so much to Resolve Foundation and the Africa Center Hong Kong for inviting me to such a fun, insightful and energising virtual workshop on African fabrics and culture. I learned so much and really enjoyed it!

Malu Zionede Hall (she/her) and I loved it! I would definitely recommend it to others: individuals, families, friends, companies looking for something fun and meaningful to do!

The Africa Centre Hong Kong fosters inclusion, learning and value-creating interactions between African and non-African communities in Asia!
